DNS propagation FAQ
What is DNS propagation?
When you change a domain's DNS records, resolvers around the world keep the old values cached until their TTL expires. Propagation is that spread — this tool compares major public resolvers so you can see whether your change is live yet.
How long does DNS propagation take?
Usually minutes to a couple of hours, and up to 24–48 hours in the worst case, depending on the record's TTL and the resolvers involved. Lowering the TTL before a planned change makes future updates propagate faster.
Which DNS records can I look up?
A and AAAA (the IPv4/IPv6 address), MX (mail servers), TXT (SPF/DKIM/verification), NS (nameservers), CNAME (aliases), SOA (zone authority) and CAA (which authorities may issue SSL certificates).
My records differ between resolvers — is something wrong?
Not necessarily. If you changed DNS recently, it just means the update hasn't reached every resolver yet — wait for the TTL to pass and check again. If it persists long after a change, verify the record at your DNS host.
Do you host DNS for domains?
Yes — every PK Hosting plan includes DNS management, and domains on our nameservers get fast, reliable resolution. You can manage records right from your dashboard.
